Fundraising sMusic

29 February 2008

Due to logistical difficulties, there are no foreseeable solution to the lack of the “image copied into tiff-then converted into jpg-then edit” machinery made available by Muks’ old place of work.

The situation encouraged sMitch and sMuks into their first ever truce for a first ever common goal. They decided to take the matter into their own hands (and mouth) to raise the funds required for the procurement of their very own machine.

Today is my last day of work here. Interestingly, my first job in this firm was John Cleese’s financial affairs. Then I proceeded on to doing many other jobs like Stephen Fry. For my last job, I am back on the John Cleese affair.

A full circle… time to up and begone… in a few hours anyway.

Grrrr… grrr… grrr….

27 February 2008

I grew up with two government-controlled channels on television. The programmes shown are based on the take-it-or-leave-it basis and very much catered to the Malay taste.

The Malays love their wrestling.

As the victim of our circumstances, I watched more than my fair share of wrestling in the 1980s. Hulk Hogan featured heavily.

He came into my office today. I had to bounce only a little to see over the partition.

Cannibal

25 February 2008

We watched Hannibal last night. There was a lot of “fff… fff… fff…” going on in the living room, but Denty didn’t get bitten.

Teaspoon fingers

24 February 2008

Denty said I never wake up earlier than him on the weekends to make him coffee. It just tastes nicer when he makes it!

Anyway, he said it last night, so this morning I woke up earlier that him. I went into the kitchen in my fully functional daywear (pyjamas and bunny slippers). I filled the machine with carefully measure amounts of distilled water (when the jug felt quite heavy with tap water) into the machine and ground coffee (doofed bag to make a heap) into the filter paper. I then turned the machine on and sat (snoozed) in the living room.

Ten minutes later, I went back into the kitchen and took out the appropriate mugs. I took the demererarerarera sugar jar and considered getting a teaspoon. Well, it was early (about 10.45am) and my hands were clean (washed them last night) so I pinched out one pinch for me and another for Denty.

I thought the amounts looked suspisciously familiar. After all, I do occasionally watch Mitch make us tea. I hunted around for a measuring spoon.

Hey presto! I have teaspoon fingers!

sMitch’s close call

sLugs are illiterate.

So sMuks took the nearest pot.

The 15th day

21 February 2008

Today is the finale for the festivities ushering the new lunar year.

Tonight is the night maidens (youth not compulsory) go to the river or sea side. They will write down the name of their intended on mandarin oranges and toss them (the mandarin oranges, not their intended) into the waters while standing on elevated ground.

Their intended will stand on less elevated grounds to try to catch, or failing that, fish out the right mandarin oranges.

I live quite far from the river and even further from the sea. I also do not have any mandarin oranges. I do however have a pond. I also have grapefruits and oranges.

Can we persuade Denty to stand in my pond while I lob grapefruits and oranges at him?

No ulterior sMotives

20 February 2008

sMuks was happily making herself a new toy with no ulterior motives in mind…

Another illustrious title

18 February 2008

We spent the entire weekend redecorating my room. The process began by peeling off the brown paint covering the bright blue paint covering the bright green, blue and yellow wallpaper.

As expected, the byproduct of such an activity comes in large quantities. Denty and I bagged up the devil’s toilet paper, loaded up the car and carted the whole lot to the domestic waste disposal site.

Thirty minutes and some bags less later, we arrived home. I scarpered back into the house (it was so cold that my pond remained frozen the entire weekend) while Denty puts the car backseat and shelf back together. I stood at the front door and watched Denty in the traditional “man of the house” role.

As Denty walked into the house, I loudly declared “Denty, hand of the mouse”.

Pestle and mortar

15 February 2008

Denty and I had a very thoughtful and meaningful conversation last night.

We discussed the evolution and revolution of a tool that helped shape civilisation and humanity. We pondered on the individuality of the separate components. We debated on the tool’s structural sense and integrity, tossing opinions around like there was no tomorrow…
