Poultry ingenuity

My lunch came with a warning label today.

Denty and I have a bed time routine. At 11pm, I will go to the bathroom to perform my nightly toilette. During the few minutes of my tooth-brushing face-washing activities, Denty will be arranging the denizens of my bed, fluffing my pillows, airing my duvet, putting my book under my pillow and upon my arrival would tuck me in.

Last night, after the usual routine, I fell asleep immediately. I dreamt that Denty was still tucking me in… except that he was made of orange jelly.

It must be the halloumi we had for dinner. I therefore conclude that cheeses do not bring nightmares, but they do encourage odd dreams.

I received a very nice email at work today.

I have been working alone in the project room for the last 4 days. It has just been me and the 40 files that I am supposed to read to keep me company. I have been behaving myself. I read and made notes and read some more (and occasionally blogged and posted odd comments into other people’s blogs).

I may have been talking myself through very complicated clauses in the license agreements. I may have been singing a little. I may have been going “krrptuk” at intervals.

Anyway, I got bored earlier so I went to take a short walk around the floor (me very high up with nice view of the Thames). I walked through the very busy audit department and thought to myself, “Ewww… auditors!”

Except that it did not appear to be as in my mind as I thought…

Karma

20 June 2008

It is a 40 minutes ride on the overground train before it terminates in Moorgate where I switch to the Underground. Last week, when the train terminated at Moorgate everyone on board got off… except for one guy. Fast asleep.

I felt sorry for him (otherwise he’ll be following the train back up to where he came from) so I tapped him on the shoulder with my book. He jumped up and mumbled about babies and 4am.

This morning, he returned the favour.

It is the damned muffin!

Shiny muffins

19 June 2008

I have been craving for muffins. I mean, REALLY craving. It has been what that gets me out of bed in the mornings for the past week.

I promised myself that if I get up, I will be able to get in to work earlier to get a muffin with my usual coffee.

So, I have been coming in early. The unfortunate thing is, the “homemade” muffins they sell have a very shiny layer of glazed something. It is very offputing so I end up ordering just a large white Americano.

Muffinless Muks. Sniff.

In the next morning, the same promise will get me out of bed again… There is only so much disappointment a Muks can take.

I want a muffin!!! I do not want glazed muffins!!!

A very happy sMitch stumbled across a very lush patch of herbs…

… and sMuks just happened by.

Expensive Bobs

10 June 2008

Our department went out on a community day today. We spent the entire day painting a charity-run studio (claim to fame- training studio for the aerialists/trapeze artistes in the Lord of the Rings musical).

There was about 20+ of us descrewing, filling, sanding, painting… on a normal work day, our charge out rate ranges from £300 to £650 per hour. We are officially the most expensive Bobs in town.

There were no windows. After a whole day of heat and fumes, Muks is very ince, lcean and sboer.
